Manual Lymph Drainage Ltd has maintained a current Register of Qualified Therapists since 2000. This register is used as reference by Health Insurance Companies, the Irish Cancer Society, National Cancer Control Program (NCCP), HSE, Doctors and Consultants.
Our standards for membership are endorsing internationally recommended training standards for the treatment and management of Lymphoedema (NALEA, ILF).
Manual Lymph Drainage Ltd believes that to maintain a high standard, applications for membership are only considered from therapists who:

MLD Ireland has 4 Membership categories:
Health Insurance: Health Insurance Companies have advised that they will only liaise with the Association regarding therapies provided by therapists who are registered members.
GPs & Hospitals: Referring doctors indicate the ability to treat people who have a healthy, uninterrupted lymphatic system and patients with compromised lymphatics.

MLD Ireland is a Member lead organisation. All work is done voluntarily by members and some acquired non member volunteers.
The facilities within the members area include general advice & tools and these are for members use only.

Lymphnetzwerk On this site you will find information of interest for patients, practitioners and doctors.
The Lymphnetzwerk was initiated 2003 as a private initiative with the aim of distributing information about lymphoedema. During 2004 a forum was added, which became the most visited forum in the German language area (Germany/ Austria/ Switzerland/ Italy) with 1.5 Million visitors and 5800 members.
Today it offers Forums in multiple languages and hosts a German, Spanish and English Forum for lymphoedema. The Moderators are Consultants of European Lymph Clinics, who make sure that all questions are replied to in 24 hours.
The English Forum was installed only recently. Everybody is waiting for the first question (thread).
Please use this Forum freely for all your cases. Remember they are of interest to every colleague.

Note: Therapists in Ireland that are listed on the Associations site have been validated by the Association as being qualified to practice at their rated level.
e.g. Full Membership listing indicates the ability to practice and treat people with lymphoedema
e.g. Associate Membership listing indicates the ability to treat people who have a healthy, uninterrupted lymphatic system, not people with compromised systems.
